In 2004, Mr. Young became a Founding Partner in Josey, Young & Brady Realty, LLC, a thirty person real estate brokerage firm located in Newnan, Georgia. He specializes in commercial and residential development and sales throughout the south Atlanta metropolitan region and Birmingham, Alabama, where he is the developer/owner of The Village at Blount Springs, a New Urbanism/traditional neighborhood community. During 2002 and 2003, Mr. Young was President of the National Division for Philadelphia-based Binswanger/CBB’s nationwide commercial and industrial real estate brokerage operations. Recruited to maximize a series of strategic expansions into major metropolitan areas across the country, Mr. Young identified new markets and enhanced Binswanger/CBB’s metro business, adding three new offices and additional office and industrial brokers nationwide. He headed U.S. operations from the southern regional headquarters in Atlanta, and led the company in its new office brokerage initiative. He also acted as a liaison between the national and international divisions. Mr. Young joined New York-based DLJ Realty Services (which became CSFB Realty Corp., a Credit Suisse First Boston Company in 2001), a wholly owned subsidiary of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, as Managing Director in 1997 to initiate and expand corporate real estate advisory services for DLJ-controlled portfolio companies and firm clients. Services included commercial mortgage brokerage, strategic real estate planning, tenant representation, landlord agency leasing and investment sales. Under Mr. Young’s leadership, the group expanded its scope of operations geographically by adding regional offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas in addition to New York. From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Young was National Director of Financial Institutions Corporate Real Estate Consulting for E&Y Kenneth Leventhal Real Estate Group (Ernst & Young, LLP) in New York. At Ernst and Young, Mr. Young was responsible for generating $20 million in revenues from clients such as Chase Manhattan Bank, First Bank System, Wells Fargo and Bank Boston. From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Young was the Northeast Region, New York-based Managing Principal for Satulah Group, an Atlanta-based corporate real estate services firm acquired by LaSalle Partners (now Jones Lang LaSalle) in 1997. He established the region, generating $10 million in revenues for asset, facilities and project management services to a client base including Chemical Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank, Marine Midland Bank and Fortis. From 1984 to 1991, Mr. Young was the President of Young Seaboard Properties, Inc. of Tampa, Florida, a residential building, investment and development firm specializing in classically designed, high end urban infill developments. As sole owner and founder, he planned, financed, developed and successfully marketed eight projects totaling 60 units with a combined sales volume of $20 million. From 1982 to 1984, Mr. Young served as Director of Acquisitions for Tartan-Morstan Atlanta, a Morgan Stanley Realty/Ayrshire Corporation joint venture. In this position, he directed the investment of Japanese corporate equity dollars into Southeastern U.S. residential land developments. This involved financial feasibility analyses, detailed due diligence and presentations to joint venture and equity partners. He implemented the development of two Atlanta residential subdivisions totaling 500 lots plus amenity packages in partnership with Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. From 1981 to 1982, as Assistant Vice President of the Corporate Banking Group/Real Estate for Morgan Guaranty Trust Company (J.P. Morgan) in New York, Mr. Young provided commercial construction financings and placed mortgage financings for major bank customers. Projects included large build-to-suit office buildings for IBM in New England and New York. He also advised and provided secured credit lines to real estate subsidiaries of multinational corporations. As Senior Account Officer of the National Banking Group/Real Estate Industries at Citicorp/Citibank in New York from 1977 to 1980, Mr. Young actively marketed a wide range of sophisticated financial products and services and managed a loan portfolio covering the Middle Atlantic states. He was involved in major foreclosure situations, instituted, planned and pursued strategies that consummated complicated loan workouts, managed litigation, handled line constructing lending activities in the Southwestern U.S. and created a large, high quality and diversified loan portfolio. He also participated in an intensive corporate officer credit training program covering corporate finance, real estate banking and real estate investment banking. An Atlanta native and Westminster Schools preparatory school graduate, Mr. Young earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the College of William and Mary in Virginia (1977) where he is the immediate past Chairman of the Mason Business School’s MBA Alumni Association Executive Board as well as serving (ex-officio) on the Foundation Board of Trustees. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Real Estate and Urban Development from The University of Georgia (1974) in addition to undergraduate studies in Economics at Emory University. He holds Georgia and New York real estate broker licenses. Mr. Young is President-elect of the Newnan Coweta Historical Society Board and was formerly President of the Newnan Coweta Preservation Trust. Mr. Young resides in Newnan, Georgia with his wife and two children.
