Atlanta Attractions: Georgia Aquarium
When you're a home shopper, the neighborhood in which you're searching is equally as important as the house itself.  The home's accessibility to shopping, schools, dining, and area attractions play a leading role in your final home buying decision.

When move to Atlanta, our real estate agents will be ready to introduce you to our city by showing you some of the best Atlanta homes for sale and attractions available.

Let's get started at the Georgia Aquarium.

Atlanta's Georgia Aquarium

One of the largest aquariums in the world, this popular attraction gives you the opportunity to get up-close and personal with an array of sea life including whale sharks, belugas, puffins, and penguins.

Galleries and Exhibits

The Georgia Aquarium holds more aquatic life than any other aquarium in the world. With over 10 million gallons of water, all thriving with sea life, you'll never run out of things to see and do.

At the aquarium's Cold Water Quest exhibit, you'll have the opportunity to view cold-water species of fish and crabs, as well as sea otters, beluga whales, and African penguins. The 6.3 million gallon Ocean Voyager gallery holds four manta rays, four whale sharks, stingrays, goliath groupers, and thousands of other fish.

Be sure to stop by SunTrust Pier 225 to watch the sea lion presentation, then head over to Southern Company River Scout to catch a glimpse of albino alligators, piranha, otters, and an emerald tree boa.

Finally, you'll want to make your way to the Tropical Diver coral reef exhibit. Here you'll find playful eels, an array of gorgeous saltwater fish, seahorses, jellyfish, and more. This exhibit is by far the most relaxing display in the aquarium and the perfect way to end your day.

Animal Encounters

Visitors age 7 and up will want to book a spot at one or more of the aquarium's Animal Encounters. Here you can enjoy a hands-on experience with dolphins, penguins, sea otters, belugas, or seals.

These encounters give visitors the opportunity to learn more about the species while experiencing the wonder of being close to these awe-inspiring creatures.

Animal Interactions

Looking for even more adventure?  Animal Interactions gives you the unique opportunity to go behind-the-scenes and get up-close and personal with aquatic species. Animal Interactions is where you can swim with whale sharks and come face-to-face with beluga whales.

These adventures are subject to age restrictions, and you must book your interaction ahead of time. If you're up for it, you won't want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Plan Your Visit

You can find the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta, across from Centennial Olympic Park.  The aquarium is open 365 days a year, but the hours vary, so you'll want to check the website before planning your trip.

When you arrive at the aquarium, plan to set aside at least three to four hours so you'll have plenty of time to view all of the exhibits, including the dolphin and sea lion demonstrations.
