Atlanta GA Thanksgiving Day Events
Thanksgiving ranks highly among our favorite holidays, and for a simple reason – the food! Of course, that Thanksgiving feast might also give you a reason to consider getting in a little more exercise this season, and if that's the case, you're in luck.

These local Turkey Trots in the Atlanta area will give you a great opportunity to get a head start on burning off those extra calories, all while helping out a good cause. So whether you're in the area looking at Atlanta homes for sale, or already call Atlanta home, be sure to check out these fun Thanksgiving runs, walks and trots this season.

  1. Five Star Thanksgiving Turkey Trot - 3835 Johns Creek Parkway, Suwanee
Started as a way to give back to all the runners who have participated in Five Star NTP races throughout the years, the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot takes place bright and early on Thanksgiving morning in Suwanee, GA. The race starts at 8 a.m. at Johns Creek Parkway, just south of Kids R Kids. Great prizes are available for the winners in each category.

  2. Tryptophan Half Marathon 10K/5K - Fowler Park, 4110 Carolene Way, Cumming
The Tryptophan Half Marathon has become a beloved tradition in Cumming, GA. Now in its 7th year, the race includes a 10K and 5K in addition to a half marathon, and takes runners on a scenic course along the Big Creek Greenway – a favorite route for North Georgia runners. Head to the starting line at Fowler Park on November 22 at 7:30 am for the half marathon, 7:45 a.m. for the 10K, and 8 a.m. for the 5K. Proceeds go toward Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

  3. 2018 Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon & 5K - Georgia State Stadium, 755 Hank Aaron Drive, Atlanta
Arrive at Georgia State Stadium (formerly Turner Field) by 7:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning to take part in the Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon, 5K, One Mile & 50 Meter Dash. The Atlanta Track Club has teamed up with Atlanta Mission for this event in hopes of collecting clothing for those in need in the Atlanta area. Participants are encouraged to bring clothing to donate.

  4. 16th Annual Gobble Jog - Glover Park, 50 N. Park Square, Marietta
The Gobble Jog is one of our favorite events of the year in Marietta, GA! Now in its 16th year, the race includes a 10K run, 5K run/walk and 1K run/walk, plus a Tot Trot for kids. The race serves as a fundraiser for MUST Ministries, which helps approximately 28,000 people in the Atlanta area every year by providing food, clothing, shelter and job training to those in need. The Gobble Jog starts and finishes in Marietta Square, following a scenic course through the historic community.

  5. Tough Turkey 5K and Half Marathon - Journey Church Griffin, 315 West Solomon St., Griffin
Held every year by Impact Racing Ministries, the Tough Turkey 5K and Half Marathon is now in its 6th year and has become a treasured annual event in Griffin, GA. Both races start at Journey Church at 7:45 am, and participants will follow a picturesque path through the quiet streets of Griffin. Chocolate milk and Waffle House waffles are provided at the finish line!
