Atlanta Tourist Destinations - JY&B Realty

One of the most vibrant cities in America, Atlanta has become a major cultural center and a bustling economic hub. There's plenty of southern hospitality to go around and along with more traditional attractions like museums, there are tons of fun, wild and weird sights, sounds, and history to take in. Our real estate agents not only have the skinny on beautiful Atlanta homes for sale, we've come up with a list of must-see attractions that entertain visitors and locals alike in the Atlanta metro area.

  1. The Doll's Head Trail at Constitution Lakes Park - 1305 South River Industrial Blvd SE, Atlanta
One of Atlanta's most unusual hiking adventures, The Doll's Head Trail is repurposing at its finest. In addition to being part of multiple trails that take you through scenic, wildlife-filled wetlands, it features installations of found objects, including discarded doll parts, truck parts, toys, bottles, bricks, tiles, and more. These whimsical displays are all created by objects that are found inside Constitution Lakes Park. Visitors are encouraged to pick up items inside this urban nature preserve to create their own unique found-art pieces.

A Smithsonian AffiliateThe David J. Sencer CDC Museum celebrates the rich history and accomplishments of the Centers for Disease Control and educates the public about the value of public health. It also offers dynamic educational programs for students and teachers.

  3. The Center for Civil and Human Rights, 100 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. NW, Atlanta
This cultural center and museum memorializes Atlanta's place in the American Civil Rights Movement, exploring the history of Jim Crow laws and racism in a global context. You can watch speeches, newscasts, videos, and view photos with an interactive experience that brings you into the heart of the struggle. The museum also honors men and women who gave their lives to create change.

This amazing aquarium is the largest in the world, housing more than 100,000 aquatic creatures, including the largest fish in the sea—the whale shark. If you're up for it and have SCUBA certification, you can even snorkel in the tank with the sharks! For a more mellow experience, take a stroll through the clear tunnel and experience fish and other sea creatures swimming all around you.

  5. World of Coca-Cola - 121 Baker St. NW, Atlanta
Did you know that Coca-Cola started out as syrup designed to relieve headaches? Dr. John Pemberton, a chemist, came up with the concoction in 1886. A friend mixed the syrup with water and carbonic aides and voilà! Coca Cola was born. The World of Coca-Cola celebrates the history of the most popular soda in the world and features a pop-culture gallery, movie theater, tastings, and all kinds of interactive activities for people of all ages.
