Hogansville Hummingbird Festival - Josey Young & Brady Realty

Held the third weekend of every October in historic downtown Hogansville, GA, the Hogansville Hummingbird Festival is one of our real estate agents' favorite fall festivities. This vibrant outdoor festival provides fun for the whole family, with activities, music, food, and vendors and wares from local artists, crafters, shops, and more.

Tons of Events and Activities

Designated as a Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Event, this fabulous festival has a true small-town feel. It happens in downtown Hogansville (aka "The City of Friendly People"). To find it on your GPS, enter the address: 400 East Main Street, Hogansville, GA. Start time is 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20th. Admission and parking are free, with security and handicap access available. With more than 200 vendors, tasty food, live music, a children's area, and tons of local restaurants and businesses, it's the perfect way to spend a beautiful autumn weekend. Or get to know your neighbors at the annual Kickoff Dinner, Dance, and Silent Auction gala at the Victoria Belle Mansion, Thursday, Oct 17.

A Longstanding Event that Benefits the Community

Now in its 22nd year, the Hogansville Hummingbird Festival is the major fundraiser for the Hogansville Charitable Trust, a non-profit corporation whose purpose is the renovation, preservation, and improvement of historic and municipal properties in and around the City of Hogansville. The Hummingbird Festival presents a great opportunity to check out the beautiful architecture of this amazing town and take a look at an array of Hogansville homes for sale.

The festival is a community-supported fundraiser that counts on the hard work and generosity of community volunteers and sponsors. It has raised more than $325,000 for the restoration and conservation of local municipal and historic properties. Combined with matching funds from federal, state, and other grants, the City of Hogansville has been able to utilize more than $3,000,000 to fund these projects.

Projects include the renovation of the historic Royal Theater, now used as City Hall, StreetScapes and construction of the Tower Trail, which includes a walking trail from Hogansville Elementary School to Oak Street, where children can learn and explore in an open-air classroom. In 2016, the Charitable Trust bought land in the middle of downtown and donated it to the City of Hogansville, allowing them to preserve green space in this historic district and create what is now known as Askew Park.

The Hogansville Hummingbird Festival supports more than community improvement projects and programs. A portion of proceeds has also been donated to charities such as the American Red Cross Katrina Relief Fund, Shriners' Hospitals, the Boys and Girls Clubs, a Troup County support group for breast cancer patients, GED program, and local food bank.
