Feel like you are just running around the same ole' track, week in, and week out? Maybe it is time to break some new ground and try out some new stomping grounds where you can take in some new sights and mix up your running routine. When you are ready to explore some new paths and trails, our real estate agents recommend the following places in the area that are perfect for runners getting ready to run everything from a 5k to an Ironman.
- Cochran Shoals Trail - 1956-2068 Eugene Gunby Road, Marietta, GA 30067
If there is any park in the area that is perfect for a scenic run, then Cochran Shoals Trail rises to the top of that list. This trail is precisely 3.1 miles round trip. Along the way, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Chattahoochee River. The trail is broad, level, and gravel lined, which makes it one of the most popular in the Atlanta area.
- Piedmont Park - 400 Park Drive NE, Atlanta, GA 30306
Piedmont Park is located right in the heart of Atlanta. This makes it easy to go for a run before or after work. One lap around the paved trail equals 3.8 miles, making this a perfect place to test your endurance and build up strength for the next 5k you enter. The trail features a mildly hilly, gently rolling slope that is perfect for beginning to intermediate runners. When you come on weekends from April-November, you can pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables from the Piedmont Park Green Market to fuel your run.
- Silver Comet Trail - Smyrna, GA 30082
At 61.5 miles, you will find that the Silver Comet Trail is one of the toughest challenges for any runner to complete. Named for the Silver Comet train that once passed along the route 50 years ago, the trail starts in Smyrna and goes all the way to the Alabama line, where it merges with the Chief Ladiga Trail. The entire route is a whopping 94-miles from start to finish. This makes it the second-longest paved trail in the country, and it makes completing the whole trail one of the toughest challenges for runners.
- Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail - Atlanta, GA
This north-south trail runs for 4 miles right through the heart of the city. From Piedmont Park to the Old Fourth Ward, the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail is a great trail to run when you want to see some of the fabulous developments taking place in the city.
