Family Fun Around Atlanta - JYB Realty

Social distancing and shutdowns have made life somewhat mundane for many families. As things begin to slowly open up, our real estate agents are starting to talk to more parents who are looking for ways to get their children out of the house and have some fun.

August is Family Fun Month, so now is a great time to start thinking about some safe activities that everyone in the family can enjoy! Whether you're a potential new resident exploring Atlanta homes for sale or you've lived in the area for years, you'll appreciate some of these great ideas. Each of the following options are offering "timed tickets" and taking other precautions to keep visitors safe and socially distant, so you have extra peace of mind while can planning your adventure.

  • Atlanta Botanical Garden: 1345 Piedmont Ave., Atlanta, GA 30309
Kids of all ages – and their parents – will love the gorgeous displays at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. This is particularly true now, since the current theme is "Alice's Wonderland Reimagined." Until November 1st, you'll enjoy the larger-than-life plant and flower sculptures of the storybook's favorite characters. There's also a "Soggy Bog" where kids can learn all about carnivorous plants, a three-story treehouse, and a Japanese garden that's perfect for taking a relaxing break.

  • Fernbank Museum of Natural History: 767 Clifton Rd., Atlanta, GA 30307
The Fernbank Museum of Natural History is the perfect place for kids to learn more about science, nature, and history, and have a ton of fun doing it! From dinosaur fossils to giant 3D movies and exciting outdoor experiences, there are hours of entertainment to be had here! This attraction is great for children ages 6 and up.

  • Atlanta Zoo: 800 Cherokee Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30315
Lions and tigers and (panda!) bears – oh my! The whole family will love getting up-close and personal with the animals at the Atlanta Zoo. From checking out the many animal exhibits to wild encounters like feeding elephants and a giant tortoise, there's truly something for everyone to enjoy here.

  • Center for Puppetry Arts: 1404 Spring St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30309
Offering live shows, exhibits, workshops, and movies, the Center for Puppetry Arts is perfect for both kids and those of us who are kids at heart. If you love Sesame Street, The Muppets, and more, this will be one of the best things you do this year! The museum houses over 190 puppets and memorabilia and will teach you more than you ever thought possible about puppet history.

  • Atlanta History Center: 130 West Paces Ferry Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30305
There's nothing wrong with combining education and fun! At the Atlanta History Center, you'll find 33-acres of gardens, historic homes, and interesting exhibits. There's so much to do here, you can easily spend an entire day and still not see everything. Make sure to check out the Civil War exhibits, Southern folk art, Centennial Olympic Games Museum, and the center's special monthly programs.

  • Georgia Aquarium: 225 Baker St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30313
Whether you've been to the Georgia Aquarium before or it's your first time, you're guaranteed to enjoy the experience. From the whale shark and manta rays to sea otters, sharks, sea lions, penguins, and more, there's so much to see! This immense aquatic exhibition is the largest in the country and is definitely a must-visit Atlanta attraction.

Finding your dream home is another activity that's fun for the whole family! If you're ready to make your move, Josey Young & Brady Realty can help. Contact us today to discuss your goals and get started.
