Wood-Fired Pizza - Atlanta, GA - JYB Realty

    Established in 2009, Antico Pizza Napoletana is so good that a neighborhood grew around it. Inspired by the long lines of people waiting to order his sensational wood-fired pizza, founder Giovanni Di Palma developed Little Italia, channeling the spirit of town centers in his native country.  Be sure to try the Sophia, Antico's signature pie, featuring buffalo mozzarella, cipollini onions, roasted mushrooms, and white truffle oil. Hours are 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. weekdays, noon - 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon - 9 p.m. Sunday.

  • Amalfi Pizza - 17 Andrew Young International Blvd., Atlanta, GA 30303
    No less an authority than Food Network has named Amalfi Pizza as one of the best pizzas in America's biggest cities. As soon as you step into Amalfi Pizza, you'll feel transported to the spectacular coastal city in Italy for which it's named. Owners Stephen de Haan and Greg Grant studied under pizza masters in Naples to bring the authentic flavor back to Atlanta. Cheese lovers order their pies carnevale-style, with a luscious ricotta-stuffed, star-shaped crust. Amalfi Pizza is open 11:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Thursday, 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 - 9 p.m. Sunday.

  • Campania - 800 N. Main St., Suite 100, Alpharetta, GA 30009
    Campania represents a piece of Italy near Alpharetta homes for sale, literally and figuratively. Their wood-fired oven was built by hand in Naples, using bricks made of volcanic soil from the Mt. Vesuvius region. Most of the ingredients, including San Marzano tomatoes, Calabrese salami, and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, also come directly from Italy. For a truly authentic experience, the owners urge you to eat your pizza with a fork and knife in true Neapolitan style. Hours are 11:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon - 9 p.m. Sunday.

  • Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria - 300 Marietta St. NW, Atlanta, GA 30313
    For a truly unique experience, head to Max's Coal Oven Pizzeria. While coal-fired pizza is common in New York and other parts of New England, it's rarely found elsewhere in the United States. Max's has the only coal-burning oven in Georgia, which reaches even higher temperatures than wood-burning ovens for a crisper, distinctly smoky crust. If you're cutting carbs or you have food sensitivities, all pizzas are available with a gluten-free cauliflower crust. Hours are 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily.

  • Grana - 1835 Piedmont Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30324
    Pat Pascarella, owner and chef of Grana, made his culinary name in fine dining, but he found himself drawn back to the Italian cooking he learned from his mother and grandmother. As Pat himself has described his food, including the wood-fired pizza, it's "a balance between Bronx Italian and real Italian." The simple but elegant potato pizza, topped with red onion, goat cheese, pistachios, and truffle honey, earned its own write-up in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Grana is open 3 - 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 - 11 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. Sunday.
