Atlanta Dog Parks - JYB Realty

Taking your dog for a walk is good for both you and your pet. You both get some exercise, a chance to enjoy the fresh air, and an opportunity to explore your neighborhood. If you've been meaning to walk your dog more often, then October should bring you some motivation to get started. October 1st - 7th is Walk Your Dog Week, a fun holiday founded in 2010. Our real estate agents the area well, and they recommend visiting one of these Atlanta parks as you walk with your canine pal.

  • Fetch Park: 520 Daniel St. SE, Atlanta, GA 30312
Fetch Park is a modern, innovative dog park that has been featured on ESPN and The Travel Channel. It's an off-leash park with a $10 membership fee per dog. Because the park charges a small membership fee, they've been able to add lots of fun features, such as airstream bars, turf fields, and outdoor TVs.

Fetch Park is more than a dog park. It's a place for humans to meet and hang out with their dogs. If you're new to Atlanta and looking to make friends who share your passion for dogs, this is the place to go.

  • Freedom Barkway: 523 Highland Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30312
Freedom Barkway is a community dog park with a large off-leash area. There is a separate area for dogs under 30 pounds. Dogs must be spayed or neutered and must be current on their vaccines to visit this park.

Freedom Barkway has secure fencing; there are often balls out in the fields for dogs to share. This park gets plenty of traffic on weekends but tends to be pretty quiet during the week, so it can be a good choice for younger and more timid dogs.

  • Piedmont Dog Park: Park Dr. NE, Atlanta, GA 30309
    Piedmont Dog Park
is located within the beautiful Piedmont Park. It features a generous, 3-acre field where dogs can run off-leash. There are shaded areas, spigots offering water just for dogs, and also plenty of benches where you can sit and relax.

Piedmont Dog Park requires all dogs to wear a collar and ID tags while on-site. Puppies over 16 weeks of age are welcome.

  • Ormewood Dog Yard: 1000-1002 Delaware Ave. SE, Atlanta, GA 30316
Ormewood Dog Yard is a great park to visit during Walk Your Dog Week. The space was first opened as a dog park in 2006, and many improvements have been made since then. It's maintained and kept clean by community volunteers.

Ormewood Dog Yard has soft, lush grass for dogs to play in. There are balls for visitors to use and chairs for human guests to sit in.

  • Tanyard Creek Park: 73 28th Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30309
Take a break from looking at Atlanta homes for sale, and walk your dog at Tanyard Creek Park. The Northside Beltline Trail passes through it, so you can walk your leashed dog along the shaded trail lined with beautiful trees.

Tanyard Creek Park also has a "Pawsome Playground" where your canine pal can run loose. It has separate areas for small and large dogs. There are restrooms, drinking fountains, and benches on-site. This park isn't overly busy and is a good choice for shy pups.

We hope you and your dog enjoy Walk Your Dog Week and have a great walk in the park. If you're new to the Atlanta area and are looking for a place to call home, contact us. We'd be happy to help you with your home search.
