Georgia Blueberry Month - Atlanta, GA - JYB Realty

Peaches aren't the only produce that Georgia has helped make famous, as our state also ranks among the top blueberry producers in the country. Georgia's blueberries are so well-known, in fact, that there's a month dedicated to celebrating them—Georgia Blueberry Month, which takes place every June. There's no better place to get blueberries than straight from the farm near Atlanta homes for sale, and many area farms also offer additional fun activities during Georgia Blueberry Month. Our real estate agents have the delicious details on five great farms to visit for Georgia Blueberry Month this year.

  1. Tuckaway Blueberry Farm – 3560 Claude Brewer Rd., Loganville, GA 30052
Owned by Ren and Cathie Knight, Tuckaway Blueberry Farm is the perfect place to pick blueberries this season. They suggest that you come early so you can pick blueberries early to avoid the heat of the day and that you wear closed-toe shoes. Containers are provided or feel free to bring your own. Cost is $5 per pound, cash only. Visit Tuesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  2. Cool Springs Blueberry Farm – 5975 Smith Mill Rd., Gainesville, GA 30506
While Cool Springs Blueberry Farm isn't as large as some of the other farms on our list, it packs plenty into its 5 acres of land. If you plan to head out to the scenic fields to pick your own blueberries, it's well worth looking at the event schedule before you visit. This farm hosts festivals and other family-friendly events all summer long, including the Films on the Farm series and some great summer camps for kids. Their facilities are also available for rental to plan your next party or event.

  3. Mitcham Farm – 797 Macedonia Church Rd., Oxford, Georgia 30054
Summer is the busiest season for picking berries and enjoying adventures at Mitcham Farm, where you'll find family fun during every season. Stop by to grab some u-pick blueberries, blackberries, lavender, and peaches, then stick around to explore everything else that the farm has to offer. Adults will love all the fresh produce and prepared food available at the farm market, while kids are sure to enjoy meeting the farm animals and playing on the playgrounds.

  4. Berry Patch Farms – 786 Arnold Mill Rd., Woodstock, GA 30188
    Berry Patch Farms
doesn't offer quite as many additional activities as the other farms on our list, but sometimes that's exactly what you want. When the goal is simply to explore the fields and bring home a fresh batch of blueberries with minimal fuss, this farm has you covered. The u-pick season typically starts here around the beginning of July, with hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

  5. Southern Belle Farm – 1658 Turner Church Rd., McDonough, Georgia 30252
