Since Atlanta is located in the sunny South, a nice dip in a pool is an ideal way to cool off. The city and its surrounding areas are home to many outdoor public pools where you can enjoy the scenery while you lounge or swim some laps.
Our real estate agents recommend the following five public pools to help you cool off around Atlanta.
- Piedmont Park Aquatic Center - Monroe Drive NE, Atlanta, GA 30309
Situated in the 200-plus-acre greenspace it's named after, Piedmont Park Aquatic Center is the perfect way to cool off after spending time in the park. The pool has four lap lanes and a current channel, so you can relax as you bob along. The deck is nicely landscaped, and you can access locker rooms and showers. If you plan to be a frequent visitor, buy a season pass that entitles you to swim at times designated for passholders only.
- The W Atlanta Downtown Pool - 45 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30308
Treat yourself to a daycation at The W Atlanta Downtown Pool, located on the beautiful hotel's 16th floor. The pool is accessible for a fee, even if you're not staying in a room. The pool is a popular destination with stunning views of the city and a cover to provide some respite from the sun. If you want to book some weekend pool time (for ages 21 and older), you can have poolside food and drink service from the Wet Bar and enjoy a fun atmosphere with a live DJ.
- Candler Park Pool - 1500 McLendon Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
Operated by the City of Atlanta, Candler Park Pool is worth visiting with the family. A pool house is available, making the pool convenient to use. It also stands out because of the beautiful park and quiet neighborhood it's located in, with the park having 55 acres of greenspace. Before or after you've enjoyed your swim, check out the golf course, basketball or tennis courts, and playground, or stop for a picnic at one of the pavilions.
- Garden Hills Pool - 335 Pinetree Drive NE, Atlanta, GA 30305
As you make your way to Garden Hills Pool, you can't help but notice the beautiful surroundings in this urban forest neighborhood. Many of the homes were built in the 1920s, and even the large rustic clubhouse located behind the pool was originally built in the 1930s. Since the local swim and dive teams practice at the pool, check the calendar before you go to make sure public lap space is available.
- Powell Pool at Mozley Park - 1690 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30314
If you're exploring Atlanta's popular BeltLine—a loop on a former railroad corridor that has become a place to exercise, see public arts, and more—Powell Pool at Mozley Park in West Midtown is a convenient place to cool off. The pool is near the BeltLine's Westside Trail, which consists of more than four miles joining together some of the area's most historic neighborhoods. Swim in the main pool or the large lap pool, and make sure to explore the nearby outdoor fitness zone with 11 stations. A playground is also onsite for the kids.
