The Atlanta Art Fair runs September 25-28, showcasing artists and galleries from around the world. Many of those galleries, however, are local and can be found year-round near Atlanta homes for sale. Here are a few of our favorites that you can experience at the fair and afterward.
Run by artists, for artists, Day & Night Projects provides opportunities to exhibit work in a non-commercial setting. Directors Engel Ellis, William Downs, and Steven L. Anderson have curated an array of exhibits in a variety of forms since the gallery's inception, including paintings, sculptures, and mixed media. Open Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m. or by appointment, there's always something new to experience.
The place to check out photos from acclaimed photographers as well as some of the best local talent is the Atlanta Photography Group. A non-profit, member-supported community since 1987, their mission is to nurture and develop the talent of photographers of all types. In addition to photo exhibitions on a variety of different themes throughout the year, they also offer:
Drop by and see how they support talented artists and foster a passion for photography in the community.
If you want to see how objects can become art, head to The Object Space. It's filled with things like vases, plates, bottles, and bowls, which feature unique shapes, vivid colors, detailed painted figures, and more. Founder Jane Jackson, formerly the curator of the Elton John Art Collection, showcases art from the mid-20th century through contemporary times, featuring a variety of different artists and styles.
The September Gray Fine Art Gallery explores how we use art as a means of communication, self-expression, and a reflection of our past, present, and future. In particular, it showcases the works of established and emerging African American and African diasporic artists. Founder and curator September Gray puts her years of experience as both an artist and collector to good use as she seeks out artists and pieces with historical and cultural significance. Some recent exhibitions have included:
And many others. Hours are by appointment only, but at the art fair, you'll be able to get a taste of what they have to offer and the impact the gallery has had on the Atlanta art community.
Since 2019, The End Project Space has sought out new artists with a connection to Atlanta and given them their first solo exhibitions. By connecting local artists with their audiences, they strive to create a resonating emotional experience that can't be found anywhere else. They also host exhibitions from other galleries and even sponsor performance art around Atlanta. It's an important fixture in the art community and one worth visiting, at the fair and on its own.
