Advantages of Buying Instead of Building - JYB Realty

In looking for Atlanta homes for sale, some people forego the buying process and build their new house themselves from the ground up. The idea certainly has its appeal. No long searches, no bidding wars, and you can get a brand new home tailored to your exact specifications. However, while good in theory, building a house may not be the best option in practice. Here are a few reasons why buying is better.

  • Cost. On average, building a new home costs $34,000 more than buying one. The cost is much less straightforward, too, and always ends up being significantly more than you'd originally anticipated. You never know when, several months into the process, an unexpected obstacle arises, requiring extra money to circumvent. On the other hand, the cost of buying a house can be negotiated. You can always walk away if it's more than you're comfortable paying. In building, walking away often means giving up the money you've already invested in the project as a loss.

Air Quality Improvements - Homeowners - JYB Realty

Especially if your family has allergy or asthma sufferers, clean air is important. There are plenty of Atlanta homes for sale, but do they have good air circulation? Here are a few ways to improve your home's Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

  • IAQ Test. If you're looking at a house but are concerned about air quality, have it tested. There are DIY kits for this, though a professional will get more complete results. They can tell you how polluted the air is, which specific contaminants are in it, and how to eliminate them.

Daiquiri Day - Atlanta, GA - JYB Realty

National Daiquiri Day is observed on July 19, giving you the perfect opportunity to sip one of these refreshing cocktails to cool off in another hot Atlanta summer. It's one of the oldest cocktails, getting its start in 1898 in a small mining town in Cuba called Daiquiri. Made with a simple blend of lime juice, sugar, and rum over cracked ice, the drinks were a great way to help miners cool off. In the U.S., it surged in popularity during World War II with restrictions on beer and whiskey.

Daiquiris remain popular today, of course, and our real estate agents suggest cooling off by celebrating Daiquiri Day at one of these Atlanta restaurants.
